Training - 2020

I haven't posted in a long while.  When you read and work on things each day I only tend to post the big things but there are probably a thousand articles that I have read and haven't posted, even to the recent reads.  Im always googling and researching.    My current/recent job hunt has left me a little discouraged.  I have over 20 years in IT and at least 5 of those years as a Cyber Security Analyst.  One of those years has even been working remote but I can't seem to get my foot in the door.    That has me wondering if I don't have enough training certs or skills listed under my resume.  However to list every training class, or cert on my resume would over load my resume more than employers would care to read.

I have begun working on different trainings and plan to introduce that here on this website.    I assume the topics will be all over the place but my main focus is on web application security testing.  I was training for the OSCP for a while and have failed one attempt at it.  I stopped working on my OSCP training to focus on my web security knowledge.  Currently with my web security learning I feel that my programing knowledge is severely lacking and have yet again started learning python try to use it more on my daily life so that I don't forget it for the 4th time.   My past work positions have not required me to write code thus if you do not use a skill.  You tend to lose it.    That leads me to my latest training.  I have not been required to code anything in a long time and I have never been required to code with a team so my code repository knowledge is lacking.  Recently Linkedin has added training to their site.  I have recently finished the Git Essential Basics Training.

Next up is the Git Intermediate Techniques.     I can demonstrate these skills upon request.    People can always go through these trainings and not actually work through them and know the concepts.  I try to never lie whether it comes to positions, skills or even things not work related.

Please remember that without me using skills in my past I tend to forget some of the details of those skills and thus have to relearn them.  Relearning any skill happens quite quickly but with my past learning of Python programming it has taken me a little longer because of my trainings being in Python 2.7 and now the current is Python 3.7.  None the less most of the trainings from my past convert but importing different libraries has been a challenge for me.

Here is a certificate from Coursera for learning Python 2.7.  This certificate can be verified at: https://coursera.org/share/b14c40b8d3d1c63eb6cbbc85242492a6
